Current Fire Danger –

Our forests and community are incredibly important to us all. In order to be safe and responsible, it’s critical to keep up with the current Heber-Overgaard, Navajo County, and Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest conditions and restrictions.

Call the Heber-Overgaard Fire BURNLINE at (928) 535-6709 as the recording is the most current up-to-date method in determining whether open burning is allowed or not (this includes campfires). The recording status is changed approximately every 12 hours (but at any time, can change due to weather or available resources) and takes into account the following;

  • Weather, including temperatures, humidity, and winds
  • Current Energy Release Component (ERC’s)
    • Which are an indicator of the moisture status of the surrounding forest and its ability to sustain burning.
  • Local resources availability.
    • Diminished resources in the area due to other fires locally or throughout the state may cause the inability to burn on an otherwise permissible day.
  • County, State, or Federally imposed Fire restrictions
    • The Fire District is under the supervision of the Navajo County Board of Supervisors. The communities of Heber-Overgaard are located within the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest.
